THOHOYANDOU, LIMPOPO – 1 August 2026 – Boxing South Africa (BSA) officially launched the Women in Boxing Series 2026/27 on Saturday, 1 August, at the Thohoyandou Town Hall, marking the start of Women’s Month with a historic all-women fight card.
The event featured six bouts involving boxers from Limpopo, Gauteng, Free State and Mpumalanga, with all contests officiated entirely by women. The initiative forms part of BSA’s transformation and women’s empowerment agenda, creating greater opportunities for women to compete, officiate, build careers and earn a living through boxing.
Fight Results
- Karabo Ngwadinge (Free State) defeated Chantelle Joubert (Gauteng) by unanimous decision – Lightweight.
- Nosipho Nkosi (Mpumalanga) defeated Lutendo Nematushela (Limpopo) by TKO in Round 1 – Junior Featherweight.
- Seani Morite (Limpopo) defeated Thembisile Twala (Gauteng) by split decision – Featherweight.
- Keabetswe Mathane (Gauteng) and Lerato Malefane (Free State) fought to a draw – Flyweight.
- Musa Rikhotso (Limpopo) defeated Millicent Nemutandani (Limpopo) by majority decision – Featherweight.
- Matshidiso Mokebisi (Free State) defeated Raider Muleba (Limpopo) by split decision to become the new Limpopo Female Provincial Lightweight Champion.
The launch also highlighted BSA’s commitment to using boxing as a platform for women’s economic empowerment and awareness around Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
The Women in Boxing Series will continue with further tournaments across the country, providing women boxers with sustained and professional competition opportunities throughout the 2026/27 season.
