Women in Boxing Takes Centre Stage This Weekend

As International Women’s Month draws to a close, the Rise of Women in Boxing Series takes centre stage this weekend with three major tournaments scheduled in the Northern Cape, North West and Eastern Cape.

Boxing South Africa launched the current edition of the Rise of Women in Boxing Series in August 2025 in Johannesburg, with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture committing all provincial departments to support the initiative. Since the launch, the series has successfully delivered exciting tournaments across Mpumalanga, Western Cape, Gauteng, Free State and KwaZulu-Natal. This weekend, the spotlight shifts to the remaining three provinces.

The initiative aims to champion a more inclusive future for the sport by investing in the long-term, sustainable development of women in boxing. Beyond providing platforms for female bouts, the series also empowers female promoters, coaches and ring officials across all nine provinces.
