Subject: Ring Officiating
Boxing South Africa Headquarters, Hatfield, Pretoria – In a strong reaffirmation of its commitment to officiating excellence, Boxing South Africa has issued a precautionary suspension of one of its ring officials due to performance concerns.
This action underscores Boxing South Africa’s dedication to maintaining the integrity of the sport and ensuring competitive fairness through rigorous reviews and continuous improvements in officiating standards. The suspension of the ring official is a neutral step taken in response to performance issues observed during the Fighters Club tournament in Silverlakes over the weekend of 28 March 2026, as well as on several prior occasions.
The official has not necessarily been suspended as a licensee but, for a stipulated period, will not be assigned refereeing or judging duties while undergoing a structured corrective process to address the observed shortcomings.
A dedicated review panel will assess the performance of this ring official, providing objective oversight and identifying areas for improvement. This process will not be limited to the mentioned official but will extend to others as well.
This unprecedented move forms part of Boxing South Africa’s broader efforts to support the professional development of ring officials through continuous training and mentorship programs designed to meet both local and international standards.
Boxing South Africa remains committed to a “zero-tolerance” approach toward technical negligence and is unwavering in its resolve to eliminate undesirable practices or below-par performance in technical officiating.
The importance of a transparent, high-performance environment for all boxing stakeholders ensuring the sport’s growth and integrity cannot be overstated.
