Tutsheni gears up for World Title bout
Simamkele Tutsheni, a Cape Town based boxer born in Ngqeleleni, is set to face unbeaten Monika Laura Monika Grzyb in a highly anticipated International Boxing Organisation (IBO) female Junior Featherweight world title bout in Poland on Sunday, 15 March 2026.
Affectionately known as ‘Sim the Champ’, Tutsheni, a firefighter, has made a significant impact in the boxing world with eight victories from eight bouts since her debut in June 2022. Notably, her win against Carleigh Swart at Emperor’s Palace, where she claimed the IBO All Africa belt, drew considerable attention to her prowess in the sport.
Tutsheni took up boxing during the Covid-19 pandemic and is now poised for history, carrying the hopes of her family, 60 million South Africans, and aspiring female boxers. Boxing SA wishes her the best of luck this on Sunday evening.
