A remarkable career dedicated to the advancement of South African boxing has received the recognition it deserves, as Siya Vabaza-Booi was honoured with the prestigious Steve Tshwete Lifetime Achievement Award at the 19th Annual SA Sports Awards, held at Sun City on 23 August 2026.
The national accolade celebrates more than years of service, it honours a trailblazer whose dedication, leadership and commitment have helped shape the administration and development of boxing in South Africa. As Boxing South Africa’s first female Provincial Manager, Vabaza-Booi has broken barriers, opened doors and paved the way for greater participation and leadership by women within the sport.
