Women’s boxing in South Africa continues to reach new heights, and the electrifying clash between Monica Mkandla and Simamkele Tutsheni at Golden Gloves’ Magic at the Palace was further proof that the women’s game is thriving.
In what proved to be one of the standout contests of the evening at Emperors Palace, South Africa’s Simamkele Tutsheni and Zimbabwe’s Monica Mkandla treated fans to a six round bout of high-intensity action. Both fighters showcased exceptional skill, determination and heart, refusing to give an inch in a contest that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
Mkandla ultimately secured victory with a dramatic knockout in the sixth and final round, bringing an end to a fiercely contested battle with one of South Africa’s the top ranked contenters highlighting the quality of women’s boxing in the region.
