Tournament Application Process
Who can apply for a tournament?
Only a holder of a valid BSA Promoter’s license is eligible to apply for the staging of a tournament.
How and when should I apply for a tournament?
Applications for the staging of tournaments must be made to BSA at least 30 days before the date of the tournament using a Tournament Application Form which can be found on the BSA website, www.boxingsa.co.za
Tournament applications must be sent to Provincial Managers who will do quality assurance on the application and once satisfied that the application meets the minimum requirements will submit to the national office.
What do I need to submit when applying for a tournament?
Applications by Promoters for the sanctioning of a tournament must be submitted to the Provincial Manager of the province where the tournament will take place at least 30 days prior to the date of the tournament and must contain the following compulsory minimum information and requirements.

When should the purse money for the tournament be paid?
Purse money must be paid in full no later than 14 days before the date of the tournament.
What happens if I am unable to pay the purse money?
A Promoter who, for whatever reason/s, is unable to pay the purse money by the due date, may submit in writing to Boxing SA, no later than 14 days before the tournament, a request for a postponement*.
Failure to pay purse money by the due date will result in Boxing SA cancelling the tournament and all deposits paid in respect of minimum purse monies will be paid to Boxers. Tournaments cancelled by Boxing SA for non-payment of purse money, or any other reason will not be reinstated, and the Promoter will be required to submit a new application in line with the requirements of the Amended Boxing Regulations, 2005.
*Postponements to a date within 30 days of the original date shall be granted in line with the contractual agreement between the Promoter and the Boxer.

Purse money (including, deposits, public liability, Ring Official’s fee and temporary license, etc.) must be paid to the following Boxing SA bank account.

Once all the requirements of sanctioning of a tournament, as listed in Regulation 11 of the Amended Boxing Regulations, 2005 have been met to the satisfaction of Boxing SA and purse money has been paid in full, a Sanctioning Letter confirming the approval of the tournament will be issued to the Promoter.
In instances where only the minimum requirements as outlined in paragraph 3 above have been met, a provisional Sanctioning Letter may be issued in respect of the application.
BSA may, in certain instances and post the sanctioning of a tournament, revoke its sanctioning for part of the bill or in its entirety and reasons thereof made in writing.
