Boxing South Africa Acting CEO, Mandla Ntlanganiso has expressed his sadness at the passing of football legend, Coach Stanley and Orlando Pirates, Technical Director, Stanley ‘Screamer’ Tshabalala.
The Women in Boxing Committee (WIB), a body appointed by the Board of Boxing South Africa, led by Ms Nande Mheshe held a pivotal meeting on Thursday evening with all female boxing licensees to discuss the future of women's boxing in the country.
Boxing South Africa (Boxing SA) Board, led by Chairman Sifiso Shongwe, met with Minister Gayton McKenzie and Deputy Minister Ms Peace Mabe in an introductory meeting on Monday night in Pretoria.
We are pleased to inform our licensees and stakeholders that the Board of Boxing SA led by Mr Sifiso Shongwe was appointed and assumed duties on 14 May 2024. One of the immediate tasks of the Board is to stabilise administration, governance and finances of the entity as mandated by the South African Boxing Act No. 11 of 2001, South African Boxing Regulations as amended in 2005, Public Finance Management Act No.1 of 1999 and other relevant legislation.
In terms of the South African Boxing Act (Act 11 of 2001), the Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Mr Ncediso Goodenough Kodwa invites members of the Boxing fraternity and the general public to nominate persons to serve as members of the Board of Boxing South Africa. Nominated candidates should possess among other things on their expertise and knowledge of women’s and amateur boxing, media and marketing related matters and development and transformation; managerial, financial, legal expertise; marketing; fundraising; corporate governance, as well as a willingness to render community service.

Kenneth was ruthlessly gunned down by assailants in his own driveway in Pretoria West. Tragically, his life was taken and his only reported belonging stolen was his cell phone. On Wednesday 22nd November 2023, the Times live has deliberately published a misleading headline which says “Boxing SA’s acting CEO backtracks on media accusation made in parliament” this is the distortion of truth. The comments made by Acting CEO in Parliament about the article which was published by the City Press on the 05th November 2023 still stands.
Once again BSA notes with disgust the ongoing, intensified media campaign which seeks to taint and besmirch the good name of BSA. It is with deep sadness that Boxing South Africa mourns the loss of Ronald "King" Malindi, a true South African Bantamweight Champion with an unblemished record of 19 professional fights without a single loss, he stood just one victory away from securing sole possession of the South African Bantamweight Belt. The Board of Boxing South Africa (“BSA”) has noted with serious concern a concerted ill- informed and unwarranted media campaign by a grouping of few individuals who comprise of both licensees and as well as unlicensed persons.

Boxing South Africa (Boxing SA) has learnt with great shock the passing of Njabulo “Njay” Merile yesterday. The 27-year-old Merile was a South African boxer who hails from Zondi in Soweto and was one of the upcoming boxers in Gauteng Province having started his professional boxing career in 2018. The stylish young lad had dreams of reviving his career this year and his death came as great shock. Details of the funeral will be communicated accordingly.

On Sunday, 03 September 2022 history was made by Sivenathi “Special One” Nontshinga by defeating unbeaten Hector Flores in his backyard in Mexico in contest for the vacant IBF Junior-Flyweight Championship.
Boxing South Africa (Boxing SA) is the regulatory and administrative body of professional boxing in the South Africa and derives its powers from the Boxing Act, No. 11 of 2001 (Act). The Act places numerous responsibilities on Boxing SA and in this regard the Act provides amongst other the following objectives:
• To provide for marketing mechanisms to promote professional and amateur boxing in general,
• Provide for the participation and involvement of women in boxing.
On the 17th June 2022 Boxing South Africa issued a media statement in which it advised of the outcome of the urgent application by Mr. Kometsi which was heard on the 16th June 2022. In terms of the award the arbitrator had ruled that the Board of BSA did not have the power to suspend Mr. Kometsi pending a disciplinary hearing. In the same communique BSA advised that it intended to challenge the decision against it in court a law urgently and that it had instructed its attorneys to prepare the necessary papers.
To wrap up the women in boxing week initiative, Boxing South Africa in partnership with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture hosted a women in boxing breakfast session with the DSAC Deputy Minister Ms Nocawe Mafu in Umhlanga, Durban on Saturday, 27 August 2022 where women in the boxing fraternity had the opportunity to engage with the minister and other dignitaries.
